A Prospective Development Partnership Between the Arab Development Society and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China

On Monday, 30/12/2025, the Arab Development Society welcomed a high-level official delegation from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China during a field visit aimed at gaining firsthand insight into the Society’s facilities and operations, and exploring prospects for establishing a strategic development partnership to support and implement priority projects in Jericho and the Jordan Valley.

During the meeting, H.E. Counselor Mahmoud Zuhdi Salameh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arab Development Society, welcomed the embassy delegation, as well as H.E. Dr. Hussein Hmaiel, Governor of Jericho and the Jordan Valley. He emphasized that the visit represents an important milestone reflecting serious interest in moving beyond introductory visits toward a structured development cooperation pathway, based on real needs and sustainable, implementable programs.

The Chairman noted that the Arab Development Society is considered a national institution with a strategic development dimension, given its ownership of assets, land, and existing facilities that enable the transformation of any partnership or support into direct and long-term developmental impact. He further explained that the Society’s development aligns with a comprehensive national approach and is carried out in coordination with official institutions, contributing to the resilience of the agricultural sector and supporting economic and social development in the Jordan Valley.

The meeting also addressed a package of proposed projects across key priority areas, including water and energy security, post-harvest development, and site protection and organization, with the aim of enhancing production efficiency, improving the working environment, and promoting sustainability.

At the conclusion of the visit, the delegation conducted a field tour of the Society’s facilities, during which they reviewed the available capacities and development priorities. Both sides agreed on establishing a joint technical follow-up mechanism to assess cooperation opportunities and translate them into implementable development programs and projects.
