Field Visit by Ministry of Agriculture, UNIDO, and Agricultural Engineers Syndicate to Follow Up on the Development of the Center of Excellence and Training at the Arab Development Society

As part of the Ministry of Agriculture’s efforts to develop the agricultural sector, a delegation from the Ministry, along with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Agricultural Engineers Syndicate, conducted a field visit to the Arab Development Society in Jericho. The visit aimed to review the activities and interventions related to the establishment of the training and excellence center in partnership with the Arab Development Society, which seeks to develop the agricultural infrastructure in the region.

The delegation was led by Engineer Mahmoud Fatafta, Director General of International Relations at the Ministry of Agriculture, and Engineer Ashraf Barakat, Director General of Agriculture in Jericho and the Jordan Valley. They explored ways to utilize the project’s resources for vocational training in fields such as agricultural education, veterinary medicine, and food processing.

The delegation also reviewed advanced water treatment technologies, such as the Electro Magnetic System for desalinating saline water and the Laguna Innovation System for treating wastewater generated from cow washing and dairy plant waste, which allows for the production of water suitable for agriculture and biogas.

During the meeting, Engineer Fatafta provided an overview of the Center of Excellence and Innovation project, explaining its strategic goals and the planned stages for implementation. He emphasized the center’s role in improving the efficiency of agricultural staff and promoting research and innovation. Engineer Samer Farah, Head of the Agricultural Engineers Syndicate, highlighted the importance of continuous collaboration between project partners to achieve its goals and further develop the agricultural sector in Palestine.

The delegation was received by Mr. Jamal Adila, Vice President of the committee managing the ADS, where a detailed presentation on the project's activities and future collaboration opportunities was provided, aimed at fostering sustainable agricultural development and strengthening public-private sector partnerships.
